Position Overview
We are an established and growing company specializing in the manufacturing, repair, and rebuilding of waste and recycling equipment. We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Shop Manager to lead daily operations within our fabrication shop.
This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a team of 8 shop employees. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge in metal fabrication processes, proven leadership experience, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair shop equipment when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the fabrication shop, managing a team of 8 employees.
- Plan, prioritize, and coordinate production schedules to meet deadlines.
- Supervise fabrication of waste containers, container bottoms & related components.
- Ensure quality control standards are met on all finished products.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate shop personnel.
- Monitor inventory levels of steel, parts, and consumables.
- Coordinate with management regarding production timelines and project updates.
- Enforce safety procedures and company policies.
Technical Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Press brakes
- Shearing equipment
- Welding
- Plasma cutting systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Experience with layout, forming, and structural fabrication.
- Strong understanding of shop workflow and production efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Exceptional organizational & people management skills.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair fabrication machinery (highly preferred).
- Knowledge of tool & machinery maintenance.
